“Yes We Cans” for Food Finders a Huge Success!
Yes We Cans for Food Finders Update
Did you hear? The YWCT Food Drive (“Yes We CANS for Food Finders”) collected almost 7,000 lbs of food! Food Finders is very appreciative–the food is already being distributed in the community. Thanks to all who contributed food and/or time.
What:
Yes We Can Tippecanoe, a local community service group arising out of the Obama campaign, has organized a major food drive to help Food Finders help our community.
Why:
As headlined in the February 9 Journal and Courier, Food Finders Food Bank, which serves 10,000 people weekly, urgently needs to restock in order to meet the increased demand for food assistance in Tippecanoe and the 15 nearby counties it serves.
When and where: March 5 to 14 as follows
West Lafayette Walmart:
Volunteers handing out “shopping lists”
Friday, March 5, 4-6 pm
Saturday, March 6, 10 am-2 pm
Sunday March 7, 10 am-2 pm
West Lafayette Marsh:
Volunteers handing out “shopping lists”
Friday, March 5, 4-6 pm
Saturday, March 6, 10 am-2 pm

Friday, March 5 until Sunday, March 14
Sunspot Market:

Community members are asked to bring items from home to drop off in labeled barrels or simply “Shop and Drop” by purchasing an extra item while in the store and dropping it in the barrel on their way out.
Food Finders accepts any food or non-food items (such as paper, laundry, and personal care products, etc.) but has asked in particular for the following:
• soups & stews
• canned fruits & vegetables
• cereals, peanut butter
• 100% fruit juices
• boxed meals (pasta, rice, potatoes, etc.)
• canned fish & meats
